Flower of Kilmacowen

We met among the golden Furze,

In the shade of Knocknarea,

To view the waves that far away,

Dance into Sligo Bay,

The day was long but fleeting time

Shall pleasure steal unknown,

And take my love away from me,

My flower of Kilmacowen.

How often in sweet evening glow

Through lovely Sligo Town,

I watched the lads and lasses gay

Meandering up and down,

I heard the tales of love they told

When Nature's winds have blown,

The fleeting bond of memory o'er,

My flower of Kilmacowen.

By Primrose Grange and down the Glen

We wandered hand in hand,

From Breeogue to St. Bridget's Well

By lonely Cumeen Strand,

Bloom over all my love so true,

My Diamond Jewelled Crown,

Enfold me in thy Petal's Sweet

My flower of Kilmacowen.

Autumn, Spring and Summer come.

Then Winter's darkening glow,

Stars go dancing round the Moon

And drifting Frost and Snow,

My lone heart with love is burning,

Memory sweet of you my own,

One Summer day to live again,

My Flower of Kilmacowen.
