Basher William's was sweeping the path, shouted, "Nivir mind Christy, I'll help ye." He did and when the wine was stored in the cellar, there were several bottles less! Tommy Callaghan at the wheel, besdie him sat Corporation Foreman Jack Monaghan, O.I.C of the brigade, and Josie Walsh on the outer side ringing the hand bell rapidly via a leather strap that came into the cab through an opening in the roof(waterproof, of course). Standing on a open platform either side of the ladder on the rear:Doc Brannigan, Patsy Lynch,Old Dan Gethins,Jimmy McTiernan, Michael Melly, and Jimmy McGuinn. As the 1941 Dennis turned into The Mall, the legs of the trio on the nearside could be seen going out at an angle from the truck. They held valiantly to the handrail. I know we have relatives in Rosses Point, because my Aunt told me my grandmother had a letter from a cousin who ran a pub in Rosses Point.Maybe someone reading the guestbook can help. Annie was born in 1891 in Gluckawn, Arigna. She referred to the area as "Bruen's hill". Annie emigrated to the Boston area in 1910. Her younger sister, Agnes, was born in 1908, Married Tom Lehaney and stayed on the land. Tom's sons, Tom and Patrick, still live on the land. Annie sister's were Margaret, Beatrice, Ellen, Mary Ellen, and at least one brother. Beatrice married a Leydon and lived in Roscommon. Annie's parents were Patrick Bruen and Mary Gilhooley. Patrick's father was John Bruen. Patrick was one of seven Bruen brothers.Does any of this sound familiar to any Bruen's out there? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Chris

Foley has kindly taken care of the monetary donations and has opened an account in Australia, now don't be alarmed tis all above board, 'tis just in case I have to apear before a tribunal about the floods on Coney Island. MM is doing tojan work out there, he went for a daytrip to Brussells to have a look. Well the things he discovered about the EU. Let me say this if you elect Seagull to the Sligo County Council and MM to the European Parliament, 'Sligo and it Surroundings" by TP Kilgallon will be in the halfpenny place, as will The Book of Ballymote. Grand speech in Austies at midnight tonight. SG

Then I suppose this has being happening here since 1916 that we don't think it unusual! Some wise crack recently told me that the graves in Arbour Hill were being peed upon daily by the actions of certain true Irishmen. However elect me to the European Parliament - I can sit beside Dana and give her bits a squeeze, " Wouldn't it be luverly" (An outside voice: That's Julie Andrews!) Never mind folk, we will upgrade the Sligo-Rosses pt railway and instal pooper scoppers on every dog that walks on the beach! More anon MM

I told the seagull that I am still at a loss why they displayed younf scantily clothed women in shop windows there. Are the modelling clothes or under wear? I'll ask the parish priest or the vicar when I see them, they are both men of the world. Now I have found out that we can get special funding for a four lane double decker bridge from Rosses Point to Coney Island and that is part of my election manifesto. Tis all the Jameson Seagull and MetalMan have plied me with in Austies's! Well, as I was saying Seagull is the best candidate for Falling Fianna in this part of the constituency. Like a great departed friend of mine Brian 'No Problem' Lenihan, Seagull will work hard for you the elector, he assures me he will pass evry possible motion to get public toilets on the first and second strands, then the dogs and their owners can shit together, excuse me I mean sit together and not have to use friends houses while out from their own. Now electors you made mistakes in the past by electing mytholigal people, but I know in my heart - who's the fine cut of a woman there- you won't make that same mistake again. Sincerley Sweetie.

"Holy Mother of God, am I gone daft or what?" He drove slowly up to Nifty Harte's all the time looking at Memory Harbour. It was a shaken Gerry Curran who got out of his van. There was a large piece of white paper on the door of Nifty's pub. -Gone to take the pledge, the drink has got to me, I can't see the MetalMan!- "Jesus I better do that too" said Gerry to himself. It took him five minutes to get to the priest's house, but he was shocked at the line of men outside all muttering about demon drink and wringing their hands in despair. As for the priest he had signed himself into the mental hospital, he told the doctor he ws suffering from delusions!
