Message: Hello to everyone in Rosses Point! Great to see such a well-organised and
smooth-running site... which makes me think you could help me. It seems my brother,
Seamus, got involved with some character Tim in RTE (Radio 1) and another fellow called
Richie something or other, who convinced him that there is this little town called
Gumgoogly on the Sligo/Roscommon border (mind you the website looks official enough).
What's worse they've even convinced our national radio station to play his recordings of
the going's on down there! It's pure lunacy. You can hear for yourself this Saturday (16th
Dec on Radio 1 at 11.02 am). If someone out there can't help him then it's unlikely he'll
ever return to Rosses Point in one piece, or sane for that matter - they're a fierce lot
by the look of them! Gumgoogly Christmas to you all. Sean.

Message: Lovely to find this site. I read 'Lifting the Latch' and couldn't believe
it - I vaguely remembered my mum going on about a pedlar, 'Indian Pete'- who used to come
round the cottages selling bits and pieces. This would have been in the early forties, she
lived on Tully Hill just before Drumcliff. The odd time I've thought about it, I dismissed
the memory as mistaken -what would a Indian be doing in the wilds of Sligo in the
forties?? But your story shows that she wasn't making it up, and I haven't lost the plot!
Although I'm still a bit baffled as to how Indian pedlars managed to end up in Sligo - do
you think they came direct or at the end of a slow stately procession through Asia and
Europe ?? All the best

Message: Begobs, ye never saw the likes of it. All the cute hoors from Fianna Fail
were in the Hotel swanning around to tell us about a new Marina for the Point. Sligo Yacht
Club laid the foundation for all of this and congratulations to them. The half of Grange
was represented by Farrell and Devins and not a Fine Gaeler or Labourite in sight,
obviously they are not seafaring men, unlike Fianna Fail who from what one reads in the
papers are not God fearing men or women!

and enjoy, for a moment, the lovely sound of the gulls and see the beauty that you have
there. I've been looking for my grandparents, who came to the United States in the late
1850s, I think, but I find no trace of them in your beautiful area. May the beauty of
Christmas remain with you all the days of the year, and may you always dwell in the land
of Tir na nOg. Nollaig Shona Duit to each and every one of you. Grace or Grania, whichever
you prefer. I use them interchangeably. Beannacht.

someone might be able to help? This is what I have: John Gillen/Gillan married Elizabeth
(unknown maiden name) Gillen/Gillan they had at least one daughter Elizabeth Born 1849 in
Ireland died 1913 in Troy, NY. She married Lorenzo Warren, he was English and I do not
know if they got married over there or here in the US? I do know that Elizabeth and the
Father John settled in Troy, NY I show John owning the burial site for Elizabeth his
daughter and her son John and his wife are all buried together; she also had a daughter
Delia who married John T. Banks from Co. Sligo. I do not have any record of Elizabeth,
John's wife being buried here. And I can not find the burial card for John so I can not
give a birth or death year. I will be going to the cemetery once the snow clears to see if
I can find a head stone. If anyone might be able give me any help on this it would be
wonderful! God Blese! Andrea

Never realised how hard I have been working all these years. I think its time I put my
hand up for a Ministerial position. When I look at that bleedin fellow Dempsey, not a wet
week in the Dail and he strutting around like a turkey with a bullock's head on him. Its
time I shafted Bertie. Yes, Minister next and then Taoiseach! If Flood wants blood, then
I'm yer man to give it. I'll make the Blood Tribunal look like a tea party.

a few bits of rubbish and fool the idiots in the media. Fell for it hook, line and sinker.
The Governor had morning tea with me and told me of the order he received about the mobile
phones. He complimented me on having the cell sleaned and painted before I moved in.
Wished they all did it! Some sad cases in here. Eepublic, what a laugh! Bertie is sweating
at the moment. We had Mass and the priest was on about honesty in his sermon!
