1859 Thomas H., b. abt 1861 William, b. abt 1866 and my

Gillen died in Boston 26 October 1886 and James also died there
about 1890. My Grandmother graduated from High School in 1885 and
may have gone to Boston and lived with her older siblings until
she married. This might explain why her parents died in Boston. I
have no idea as yet how James Gillen came to Portland or if
records exist there about his family before leaving Ireland for
America. This is very exciting for me and I look forward to

was joined in his journey by his 2 brothers Daniel & Bernard.
Another relative has told me that they sailed on a vessel line
called the Anchorline that left from Derry on a regular basis. I
have already been in touch with the Geneology Centre in Derry but
I did not have enough information(their age at the time or exact
townland) for them to give an exact response. Do you have any
suggestions as to other sources I could check ? I realize that it
may be a problem because Derry is not part of the Republic. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. Terrific Website ! Joe McNichol

'till now. I the booted Horseman and the Horse within one Being;
My youth in this of much the same with edges of compassion
chisl'd in the spur. Hammering; Uniting through the Flame, more
clearly seeing. I as well that ham'ring Blacksmith who did craft
the spur which kicks me into racing down the track of writing.
now I question why I'm kicking. Now, The Fool does sit by,
watching as the dark is drawing near and I'm still running;
Contemplating taking off my boots. The clock is ticking. C. AJS

Message: I am a descendant of Matilda and Thomas Dobbin of
Coney Island. Matilda and her children left Ireland on the death
of Thomas in 1860 on "The Flower of the Forest" from
Liverpool in 1861. Thomas was an officer in a militia regiment,
his brother, Abraham Dobbin was mayor of Sligo and Chief Justice
until his death in 1870, another brother, John was a merchant in
Liverpool. Their father was Thomas Dobbin, a tanner. Numerous
descendants still live in Australia, mostly in Victoria. I can
supply more detail to interested persons. If video can be
purchased showing Coney Island and early Sligo especially Vine
Street and Union Street I would be anxious to obtain a copy. Any
details regarding the Dobbin, Proctor, and Jones families of
Sligo, Mayo, and Donegal would be of great interest. My snailmail
address is 5/13 Karrakatta Street, Black Rock, Victoria,
Australia 3193 All correspondants are assured of a prompt reply.
