Although the Middleton we are looking for (Thomas Henry) left Ireland in 1839/40 for Australia, the "sociable" characteristics of your old gent would suggest that there is some link between him and the Middleton's here!! The bulk of the Middleton's within this family (especially the males) would identify with old Henry as regards intrusion into their household!!!!!! Do you have any idea where old Henry came from?????? Would love to visit someday........Margaret

I'm from the US where I reside in the state of Washington (on the wild wet NW coast of the contiguous lower 48 states. As I fly over Ireland regularly on my way to and from Russia, I suppose a stopover for a pint or two is not out of the question. Would anyone at your end be able and willing to provide information on records available to an amatuerish genealogical search? I'll drag out my collection of maps and fix your location in my mind. How does a visitor meander across Ireland from Dublin to Rosses Point? Also, how does one locate information on places to stay?

Message: Hello!, across the water. I never got to Rosses Point, sad to say. But I was on the other side, and have great memories of Sligo, when the old Ballagh' steam engine headed for Kilfree Junction, and the Sligo train. Those were great excursions. I'm delighted to find your site so rich in the bondings of time and place, time past and present, and surely one of the lovely mystical places that call us all. Oisin must have wept to leave the Island behind him, as I did, and so many thousands of others across the span of centuries. But, thanks to sites like yours the broken bonds are re-connecting, and many are finding their lost world is not lost at all. Keep up the good work, and warm regards, Bill McPhillips in Port Washington, New York And do stop by my site. I am not so sure when my grandfather immigrated to the U.S. Anyhow, he had four children with his wife Helen or Ellen Kiggins. Anyway he is no longer living. And I happen to be a teenager. My parents and I were thinking of visiting Ireland sometime in the near future. I think we may still have relatives in Ireland. In fact I know we do, because most of my grandmother's siblings never left Ireland. It was nice to hear from another Devaney. Sincerely, Kate Devaney

I might just pop down to Harry's to see it - I hope they let me in. The lifeboat was out training this evening and the seagull tells me that Ms Carter and co. took it over to Strandhill and then away up the river into Sligo. The cormorant says they got a rousing reception into Sligo Quay by the crew of the Russian ship. When they came back out they made me dizzy with all the zooming up and down so I'm off to sleep........zzzz

Anyway, if you can view them - enjoy! I'd like to take time as well to thank Roger for everything he's done and the time he has put into the site, I can only hope I can do as well as him!
